Blocx Matrix, in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University
Strategy is only as good as the capability to execute it.
Nottingham Trent University and Blocx Matrix have come together to build that capability. Leadership development for senior leaders across the built environment, infrastructure, real estate and the public sector.
Request a conversationThe gap
The gap is not knowledge. It is judgement.
Senior professionals are rarely short of frameworks. What shapes performance is the judgement to apply them when stakes are high and conditions are complex. Two strengths close that gap.
Nottingham Trent University brings academic rigour: internationally recognised quality, research-led teaching, and the quality assurance of an established university.
Blocx Matrix brings industry context: the real-world delivery and market expertise of its own practitioners and a global network of sector leaders, used to set every programme in the context its participants work in.
Who they are for
Four kinds of leader. One portfolio.
Designed for senior and emerging leaders in the built environment, and applying equally across infrastructure, real estate, housing, healthcare, education and the public sector. Each programme speaks to four groups.
Strategic leaders
Setting direction and accountable for outcomes.
Delivery leaders
Responsible for programmes, projects, and operations.
Change leaders
Driving transformation, sustainability, and new ways of working.
Emerging leaders
Preparing for greater responsibility.
What you get
Measured gains. Lasting capability.
Research and practice, taught together
Every programme is co-designed and co-delivered, so academic frameworks are tested against current industry practice by the people who apply them.
Built around your context
Outcomes, case studies and assessment are tailored to your sector, organisation and goals, with the learning outcomes defined around the capability you actually need.
Measured, not assumed
Pre- and post-programme skills audits track the capability gained, giving you evidence of progress against the outcomes agreed at the outset.
Verifiable CPD
An NTU certificate of attendance, a digital badge, and 21 verifiable CPD hours per programme.
A peer network
You learn alongside accomplished senior professionals and build relationships that last well beyond the programme. More than 250 have come through the programmes to date.
Built for the long term
Optional follow-up workshops, coaching and consultancy help organisations embed the learning and sustain improvement.
How they are taught
Your context first. Then the curriculum.
The two contributions are integrated rather than delivered side by side. Participants learn academically grounded frameworks, then work through how those frameworks perform in the conditions they operate in.

The programmes
Twelve programmes now. More in development.
The portfolio spans commercial and contractual judgement, project and programme delivery, digital and data capability, sustainability and procurement, and the leadership of people and change. Each programme stands on its own. Together they form a capability framework an organisation can develop against, from a single leader to an entire team. New programmes are added as the market moves, and we design to brief where a need falls outside the portfolio.

Three days. Built around your team.
Primarily online, supported by a secure digital learning environment. Hybrid and face-to-face delivery on request.
Programmes are delivered in-company to your group, and priced to the group size, the seniority of the cohort and the level of tailoring. Tell us what your teams need and we will price it.
Assessment and customisation
Tested in practice. Tailored to you.
Assessment reinforces learning rather than testing recall: applied scenario tasks, knowledge checks and short reports tied to real challenges in your organisation, with feedback from facilitators and peers. With the skills audits that bookend each programme, that gives clear evidence of the capability gained. The programmes are non-credit-bearing.
Every programme has a rigorous academic core and is tailored at the client layer, so it reflects the regulatory and cultural context your teams work in while staying academically credible. Where a need falls outside the portfolio, NTU and Blocx Matrix design new programmes to brief, from single courses to full leadership pathways.
Faculty
Led by academics. Delivered with practitioners.
Programmes are led by NTU academics and delivered alongside senior practitioners from the Blocx Matrix network. Practitioners are assigned once the client brief is agreed, so the delivery team matches the sector and the outcomes.
